What is Dive Well Medical Services?

Dive Well Medical Services was founded by myself, Dr Chris Allen, to provide the highest quality medical expertise to divers in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the wider California community. While treating divers suffering from decompression illness, I found there was a need for high-quality medical care for this population.

 

I offer in-person exams and a convenient telehealth option for many recreational (DAN) physicals.

 

My focus is offering physicals to recreational, scientific and commercial physicals as well as support for public safety diver teams.

 

I've been a certified scuba diver for over 20 years. My favorite dives were in support of the Aquarius habitat in Key Largo. I've recently started diving down in Monterey and am amazed at how much sealife we have just off our coastline (the sea stars are huge!). I have multiple professional qualifications and over a decade of experience in diving medicine.

• Dive Medical Officer with the United States Navy
• Board-certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine
• Completed 1 year fellowship at Duke University
• Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine (DiDMM) by the Wilderness Medical Society
  • Additional training in diving and maritime injuries, medical logistics and shipboard medical support
• DMAC Level 2D
• Physicians Training in Dive Medicine course by UHMS

  • 2 week course covering dive fitness, diving and underwater injuries, in-person drills of hyperbaric emergencies (highly recommended course)
